Urban planner, mobility expert, and PhD student
at Universidade Federal do Ceará (UFC)

About me

I’m a Brazilian urban planner and early-career researcher in transportation and urban development. Since my Master’s degree (2020), my research has focused on accessibility, equity, and social justice. As a PhD candidate, I was awarded the 2021 Research in Development Award from the National Association for Research and Education in Transportation (ANPET) for my work on transport-induced gentrification. Three years before that, I was awarded a scholarship from the CAPES Foundation, an agency under the Ministry of Education of Brazil, to be a Visiting Student at the University of Toronto. Qualitative approaches have based my investigations on neighborhood changes, slum gentrification, and perceived accessibility.

As an practitioner, I have collaborated on comprehensive urban plans for Brazilian cities, including urban zoning, mobility plans, and a proposal of urban restructuring financed through land value capture tools. In the public sector, I served as both Project Manager and the Coordinator in the Innovation Lab for Public Policies at Fortaleza’s Municipal Government. During this time, I was involved in projects developed through Fortaleza’s partnerships with Bloomberg Initiative for Cycling Infrastructure (BICI), Toyota Mobility Foundation (TMF), and World Resources Institute (WRI) Brasil.
